1.
Talking to a friend of mine Kicking back and passing time Laughing in the summer rain What I'd give to see those days again Dreamers come and dreamers go Watch the waters ebb and flow Who knows what the future holds Who knows where the road will go A blood red moon in a star filled sky Shines so bright There's magic out there, treasure to share On such a perfect night A vision from a distant time The writer finds another line The piper plays a fine old tune A gift from the blood red moon My time, your time, one time We can share A blood red moon in a summer sky Stars shining bright Cautionary tales, secrets unveil On this perfect night Talking to a friend of mine Laying back and killing time Walking in the summer rain What I'd give to see those days again
2.
Crystal waters run deep Quiet waters, bitter-sweet From the silence comes the sound Grace and favour Lost and found Holding hard, holding true Together we can see this through Holding strong, holding fast Waiting for the storm to pass
3.
It's all there, it's out there, I know where We'll find everything we're looking for No breakdown, no shake down, no take down We'll see everything that's gone before No guiding sign but I know we'll find a way Down the Paradise Road It's all there, I know where, I've been there We'll know everything we need to know No breakout, no shake out, no take out We'll go anywhere we want to go Walk another mile, stepping out in style Down the Paradise Road
4.
From a time and place unknown I see a face And there's something in those eyes That speaks to me There lies treasure pure and true A gift I want to share with you It's written in the stars Clear to see I know way beyond the darkness The light still shines Time just slips away I hear your voice, I hear you say Fly away, you found your wings Fly away Out there in the distance A dream unwinds I know way beyond the darkness The light still shines You found your wings now fly away Out there in the distance Who knows what we'll find I know way beyond the darkness The light still shines

about

These songs fell from the northern skies and somehow found their way into my head during the spring and early summer of 2022. I sketched and mapped out the general shape of things and recorded some bits and pieces in the kitchen, and then, thanks to the wonder of the web, my musicianly chums made some cool contributions to the groove. Terry Butters, in Newcastle, Staffordshire, on piano, Hammond organ and Gretsch guitar (with his recently refurbished 60s Watkins Copicat), Dave Sutherland, in Grimsby, on double bass, Sam Lumsden, in Inverness, on the drums, Karen Jillard, singing in my kitchen, and the inimitable Irmi Wolvin, on cello from her home in Vienna. Working with these cats is a North Sea gas! Cheers, GS. x
